CASH AWARD TO PILOT
Winner Of 1953 Air Race IN.Z Press Association—Covynahtl LONDON, Sept. 15. The winner of the 1953 England - New Zealand air race, Squadron-Leader Roland L. E. Burton, has been awarded £225 by the Committee on Awards to Inventors. The award is for his inventiop of the first photographic reconnaissance sight for operational flying, to be used by the Royal Air Force.
The squadron-leader, now retired, won the race in a Canberra jet, while holding the rank of flight-lieutenant.
