OLD WELLINGTON HOTEL
Royal Tiger To Replaced "The Press' Special Service WELLINGTON, Sept. 18. The Royal Tiger, one of Weilington’s oldest hotels, situaM on the southern corner of Targ. naki and Abel Smith streets, may be replaced by a modern hotel. Plans for the future RoyM Tiger, which has a military history going back to Mount Cook barracks day, are at present being drawn up for New Zealand Breweries Ltd. Linked with the expected continuing widening of Taranaki street south of the intersection with Abel Smith street, the plans, when prepared, will be discussed with the Wellington City Council. Although the widening of the street will mean the loss of much of the site on which the Royal Tiger now stands, the company has an adjoining property in Abel Smith street, on which the new hotel is planned. After the drawing up of plans and discussions with the City Council, the company will make its decision on the future of the Royal Tiger Hotel.
