Yorkshire Beats The Rest
(N.Z Press Association—Copyrtpht) LONDON, Sept. 15. The English county champions. Yorkshire, today beat the Rest by 66 runs in the last first-class cricket match of the summer, played at the Oval, London. Scores: Yorkshire 160 and 425 (J. Wilston 105, B. Close 86, F Trueman 45) beat the Rest. 384 for 8 declared and 135 (B. Close five for 47, R. Illingworth four for 40) by 66 runs. ARANUI CLUB Officers were elected as follows at the annual meeting of the Aranui Cricket Club:— Patron, Mr G. R. Clarke: president. Mr D. G. Bodger; club captain. Mr A. G. Allen; treasurer. Mr E. Brown; secretary, Mr T. Blewett; selectors. Messrs R. Tolchard and E. H. Courtier: committee Messrs B. Bowen, D. Allen. H. Tolchard. K. Tolchard, and B. Ledgard; delegates to Christchurch Suburban Cricket Association. Messrs E. Courtier and R. Smiiherham. Opening day was fixed for October 3 at Bromley Park.
