Elephants Cross Alps.— A circus menagerie led by three elephants has crossed the Alps by the 9250 ft Clapier Pass, which thwarted the zoo elephant Jumbo in a recent attempt. An animal tamer, Darix Togni, yesterday led three female elephants, a camel, two llamas, and three mules through the pass into France.—Susa (Italy), August 30.
