VISIT TO MOSCOW
Gaitskell And Bevan
(Rec. 10 p.m.) MOSCOW, Aug. 29. The leader of Britain’s Opposition Labour Party, Mr Hugh Gaitskell, and Mr Aneurin Bevan, the “shadow” Foreign Secretary, arrived today for a 10-day visit to the Soviet Union at the invitation of the Soviet interparliamentary group. » They are expected to see Mr Khrushchev and other Soviet leaders.
The visitors will probably spend most of their time in Moscow, where they will stay at the palatial Sovietskaya Hotel. A brief trip to Leningrad is indicated as well as a flight to Yalta if Mr Khrushchev remains at the Crimean resort where he is on holiday to “build up strength” for his talks with President Eisenhower in Washington. The British Embassy is planning to give a lunch for the visitors and top Soviets leaders next Saturday. Mr Gaitskell and Mr Bevan will leave for Poland on September 8:
