No Comment In Peking
PEKING, August 29.
Officials of the Chinese Foreign Ministry declined immediate comment today when asked about yesterday’s statement by Mr Nehru that Chinese troops had entered Indian territory. Indian Embassy officials also declined to say anything.
The text of Mr Nehru’s statement was handed today to the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi for transmission to the Peking Government. Reporting this, the Indian Foreign Ministry said Mr Nehru will wait for “some time” to see if the Chinese Communists take steps to withdraw their troops from Indian soil.
If the Chinese do not withdraw within a reasonable time, steps will be taken to push them out, informed sources said.
