C. W. L. Homemakers’ Branch. —Miss Pauline Packwood gave a demonstration of hair cuttihg and styling, choosing her models from the audience at the recent annual meeting of the Homemakers' branch of the Catholic Women s League of the Diocese of Christchurch. The convenor (Mrs Kathleen Taylor) was re-elected and the Rev. G. Kane was reappointed spiritual director. A committee representing city parishes was elected.
C.W.I. East Federation. — Subjects for discussion at the halfyearly council meeting to be held at Canterbury Agricultural College. Lincoln, on October 8, were approved at the recent meeting of the Canterbury East Federation of Country Women’s Institutes. Arrangements were completed for a school of procedure to be held at Leeston on September 14. The speakers at the school will be Mesdames N Mcßae. H. Prebble,. W. A. Pattison and E. B. Thompson. Competitions organised for the school are a tea towel design depicting a New Zealand country life scene and C.W.I. activities and a spring floral arrangement. Mrs H. Prebble presided at the fullyattended meeting.
