Design Contest For Otago Building
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, August 28.
The University of Otago has sent circulars to all New Zealand architects advising them of a competition for the best design for its new library building, said the librarian, Mr P. Havard-Williams, today. The library is to have about 85.000 square feet of floor space and cost not more than £400,000. The competition carries a first prize of £lOOO, second prize of £750, third prize of £5OO and fourth prize of £250. Entries close on January 22 next year and will be judged early in February. It is hoped to have an exhibition of the designs submitted on show during the jubilee conference on the New Zealand Library Association ip Dunedin from February 15 to 19.
Judges of the designs will be the Government architect (Mr F. G. F. Shepherd), Mr R. C. Muston (Wellington), Mr P. Pascoe (Christchurch), Mr J. M. Patrick (Otago University Council) and Mr Havard-Williams.
