MAN’S RIGHT ARM SEVERED
Lyttelton Shop Accident
A butcher’s assistant had his right arm severed in an accident at Welsford’s Butchery, London street, Lyttelton, at 3.50 p.m. yesterday. He is Mr W. R. Robinson, of 37 Shortland road, Aranui. Mr Robinson was believed to have been making adjustments to a mechanical hoist in the basement of the shop when a heavy steel cage dropped, severing his arm at the elbow. He was attended by Dr. P. A. M Heath.
Taken by ambulance to the Christchurch Public Hospital, he was admitted and found td be suffering from severe upper limb injuries and shock.
His condition last evening was reported as satisfactory.
