FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation.—An anti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea and most of New Zealand. Forecast:

Canterbury.—Moderate variable winds; weather fine, with mild day temperatures, but frosts tonight. Outlook: fair to fine.

West Coast.—Moderate westerly winds: weather fair to cloudy, with moderate temperatures. Outlook: similar conditions.

Nelson and Marlborough —Northerly winds, fresh about Cook Strait, but moderate elsewhere; weather fair to fine, with mild day temperatures, but frosts tonight. Outlook: fair.’
