Canterbury Still Unbeaten
(New Zealana Press Association) INVERCARGILL, August 26. After the Otago-Auckland first grade game on the second day of the New Zealand basketball championships today, a protect was lodged by the Otago manageress, who claimed the scoring in the game was inaccurate. A sub-committee will decide the protest tomorrow. Auckland won 27-24. Canterbury and Hawke’s Bay are the only two unbeaten first grade sides at the tournament. Today’s games were played in a strong, cold westerly wind. Results:— First Grade Southland Major 26, Matamata 15; Canterbury 35, Matamata 17; Southland Country 20, Wanganui 16; Hawke’s Bay 25, Hutt Valley 24; Auckland 27, Otago 24 (subject to confirmation): Southland Major 31, Rotorua 19; Hawke's Bay 17, .Rotorua 16; Canterbury 27, Auckland 18; Southland Country 31. Hutt Valley 15; Otago 28. Wanganui 22. Third Grade Putaruru 30, Hokitika 17; Marlborough 18. Poverty Bay 17; Canterbury Sub-associations 24. Taranaki Minor 21; Wairarapa 25.
