Lamb Prices Still

Weak

Smithfield prices for New Zealand lamb were still tending to fall in the week ended on Tuesday, according to the Imported Meat Trade Association’s weekly price list. The list shows the two lightweight classes —both prime and seconds —at unchanged values. Prices for prime 371 b to 421 b lambs, however, are quoted at 17Jd to 18d per lb this week, compared with 18d per lb last week. Prime 431 b to 501 b lambs are this week quoted at 17Jd per lb, compared with 18d last week. Argentine lambs fell Jd to ?d per lb and Australian lambs were not quoted. Argentine chilled beef rose IJd per lb and Australian frozen beef was up to Jd per lb dearer. Prices for New Zealand wethers and ewes were steady to fd per lb dearer. Quotations for New Zealand meat (ex hooks. Smithfield) in the week ended August 25, with the variation since the previous week, were as follows :
