INDONESIAN DAY
Reception At Museum
Td honour Indonesian national day. the New Zealand China Society held a well-attended reception in the Canterbury Museum theatre last evening when the six resident Indonesian students were guests of honour.
The Indonesian party, comprising four students from Canterbury Agricultural College, and two from the University of Canterbury. was warmly applauded by the 250 persons present for a brief concert performance of Indonesian folk songs and two folk dances Miss Oni. a student from Lincoln College, explained the songs and a Javanese dance.
The programme included a talk on Indonesia by Sumardjo of Madura, and a coloured slide programme with a commentary by a former Dutch resident. The chairman was the director of the Canterbury Museum. Dr. Roger Duff, and the vote of thanks was moved by Mr George Burns.
