LONDON, August 25

Leeds. The Court was told that a mine deputy smelt cigarette smoke near where Saddington, a belt patrolman, was working. Saddington denied smoking and nothing was found on him when searched nor was anything found in his refuge hole—but smoke was seen and smelt there. Later he was searched again and three cigarettes were found on him—he also admitted to taking three and a half cigarettes and a match down the mine and smoking the half cigarette.
