BAYNE SENTENCED AT NAPIER
(New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, August 25. Colin Alister Sayre was told by Mr Justice McGregor in the Supreme Court at Napier today that the only way to deal with him was to put him tn prison for a “substantial period.” Bayne, aged 33, was sentenced to preventive detention for breaking and entering an Army store at Kaitaia on July 20, two years’ goal for obtaining a car with a false cheque at Otaki on July 13, two years for stealing a car at Whangarei on July 20, and three years for discharging a firearm at a police constable at Wairoa on July 23. the three terms to be served concurrently with the sentence of preventive detention.
