Commissioners To Be Appointed

Two will be appointed in each! island with each commissioner, ! having half an island as his tern-1 itory The commissioners will be based in Auckland. Wellington.! i Christchurch and Dunedin. I The Department of Internal ■ Affairs is advertising for suitable officers, who will be paid a salary I lof £lOOO a year and who will bei I required to work not less than 20 J ! hours a week. I As well as planning and organising the civil defence scheme in I their respective territories, the I regional commissioners will control regional operations in major j I peace-time and war emergencies 'in accordance with Government] j policy and direction. ! Their duties will involve liaison with Government departments, the armed services, local authorities land voluntary organisations. Applications for the four posts close! ion September 4.
