Public Debate On Tour
“That the 1960 Rugby Union tour of South Africa should be abandoned,” is the subject for a public debate to be held by the Christchurch Federated Debating Societies in the W.E.A. centre next Monday evening. The three best speakers from the Christchurch district will comprise the negative team. They will contest the Dominion final of the Norwood Trophy in Wellington on September 5, when the subject will be the same as that for Monday's public debate. The opposing team then will be Auckland.
“The federation believes that recent meetings on this subject have given the public only one side of the question,” said the secretary (Mr R. B. Hale) yesterday. “It feels that this public debate will help to alter that.”
