Crowds At Rugby Matches
Sir,—I came down from Auckland to see last Saturday’s test match at Athletic Park and found that the western bank was packed with “squatters” complete with rugs, suitcases, picnic baskets, thermos flasks, etc., all of which took up room that spectators denied a view of the game would have greatly appreciated. Moreover, instead of standing, they sat throughout the match, thus taking up at least the space of two who stood. Along with thousands of others I travelled 400 miles, and saw nothing whatever of the match, being rather short of inches and having no box wrapped up in brown paper to stand on. I hope to see the third test I also hope the Christchurch public won’t adopt the Wellington slogan of “Blow you, Joe, I’m gll right.” All on the bank should stand and make room for fellow enthusiasts.— Yours, etc., AUCKLANDER. August 22, 1959.
