The days when they were dragged by their ears on to the ballroom floor are out. They now volunteer in their hordes for lessons in dances ranging from the waltz to the cha cha. One reason for the dance craze is that shyness has almost disappeared. Boys and girls “date” at an earlier age and coffee bars encourage an easy mingling of the sexes. Many schools are now running special dancing classes. Schoolmasters favour dancing because, apart from its social assets, it improves footwork in sport. Task For Tax Gatherer (From a Reuter Correspondent) TOKYO. Tax authorities in Japan may have to read through the works of one of their late popular authors to try to estimate the total future royalties of his books. The authorities are trying to assess inheritance tax on the late Kafu Nagai. While they can assess his tangible assets. Nagai’s intangible assets present a problem. Tax authorities will most likely have to read his books to evaluate the literature, then, on the basis of this assessment, determine how long Nagai’s bocks are likely’ to be read and what royalties may from his works.
