Constable Escapes Injury

A car, driven by a police constable, who was going home after coming off duty, was struck by a shunting engine on the Montreal street railway crossing at 5 15 a m on Saturday The constable, Neville Thompson Ward, suffered from shock and was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital. After treatment he was sent home. The car was hit by an engine travelling wes' across the crossing and was extensively damaged on the left side.
