MUDPLUG TRIAL
B. R. Blackbum, driving a Model A Ford, won the Canterbury Car Club’s mudplug trial yesterday. Much humour was added to the event by the number of old vehicles competing, but especially a Bren Gun carrier driven by Mr G. F. Sheppard. Unfortunately, the carrier was eliminated when its rear-end seized while fording the Selwyn river. Results were:— B. R. Blackbum (Ford A) 1, A. Galbraith (Volkswagen) 2, I. Mlles (Whippet) 3, P. Milligan (Ford V 8) 4. M. Ellis (Austin 7) 5, L. S. Lester (Ford 8) 8.
