Nearby Occupants Unaware Of Fire

(New Zealana Press Association) DUNEDIN, August 21. Flames were leaping through the roof of the Maclaggan street premises of the Commercial Trading Company, Ltd., tonight before the occupants knew their building was on fire. They carried on blissfully at their work until brewery workers across the street rang them with the news. Two girls in the Chief Post Office also saw the blaze. They called the fire brigade at 6.4 p.m. and smart work by firemen confined the outbreak to a workshop. The fire occurred in the turnery workshop of the company. Four machines from the Central Fire Station turned out, and the last firemen left about 7.35 pjn. Machinery in the workshop was worth about £3OOO, but damage cannot be assessed until an intxytion to made. One carpentry order had just been completed and was reedy for delivwv tv.*
