NEW INDOOR BOWLING HALL.—This is an impression of the new hall which is to be built for the Canterbury Indoor Bowling Association. With the growth in popularity of this sport in Canterbury, hall, accommodation for clubs in Christchurch has been fully taxed and the association decided on the major step of acquiring its own hall. The hall, to be built early next year on a four-acre block of land in Kearney’s road, Linwood, will be 300ft long, 70ft wide and capable of taking 120 mats. Facilities for the parking of more than 500 cars and a cafeteria which can cater for 120 persons are included in the project. Canterbury will be the first centre in New Zealand to own a hall suitable for handling a national tournament which generally attracts between 3000 and 4000 competitors. Finance for the building will come mainly from the sales of debentures.
