Misquoted
The Governor-General (Lord Cobham) visited Robert Louis Stevenson’s grave at Samoa “. . . and do you know what I found?” he said in an interview in Wellington last night, “the inscription on the tomb is incorrect. I left £5O behind to have something done about . . .” The last lines of the inscription lettered on the stone reads: Here he lies where he longed to be Home is the sailor, home from the sea And the hunter home ftom the hill. The correct quotation is “Home is the sailor, home from sea.” “I want to have the offending definite article removed,” Lord Cobham said.
