Japanese Art Exhibition
Sir,—A Japanese picture interesting in design, original in approach, and ’ symbolic of the Japanese outlook, is placed in a narrow, dark passageway of the McDougall Art Gallery, where it is impossible to see it properly or enjoy or study it Would the authorities consider moving it a few yards into the light of the main court for the short time Christchurch is to have the privilege of seeing this most enjoyable and interesting exhibition from Japan. One of our leading women artists told me on the opening day how profoundly she has been moved by these Japanese paintings and what inspiration and widening of horizon she had obtained. Not only artists and students but all art lovers should not miss visiting this exciting Japanese art exhibition. —Yours, C C CORA WILDING. Kaikoura, August 20, 1959.
