C.M.T. DEFAULTERS PROSECUTED
Failure To Attend Annual Camps
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 21. The Minister of Defence (Mr Connolly) said today that 630 compulsory military trainee defaulters had been prosecuted for not attending annual camps earlier this year.
He was replying to a question by Mr J. T. Watts (Opposition. Fendalton) in the House of Representatives during discussion on the vote in the Estimates for the Army Department.
Mr Connolly said 106 prosecutions had been dealt with by July 30 and there were 457 cases pending. Sixty-seven defaulting trainees had not been traced.
