TWO TEARS ' GAOL FOR MEN
Breaking, Entering And Theft
(New Zeaiana Press Association) DUNEDIN, August 21. Appearing for sentence in the Supreme Court this morning, Bernard John Riley, aged 27, carpenter, and Leonard David Taylor, aged 24, workman, were each sentenced to two years’ gaol. They were found guilty by a jury on Wednesday on two counts—one of breaking and entering and theft and another of breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime.
In imposing the sentence. Mr Justice Henry agreed with counsel for the men, Mr A. J. H. Jeavons, that there was a probability that there had been other persons involved. There may have been a “master brain” at the back of the crime.
