First Woman Elder.—Mrs K. E. Moore who is the first woman elder to represent a church on the Presbytery of Christchurch, has been associated with St. Aidan’s, Mairehau, since its inception. She was the secretary of the committee which worked to establish St. Aidan's. It was erected about six years ago. Her daughter was the first child to be baptised in the church Later she was secretary of the Board of Managers of St. Aidan’s. Before her marriage, Mrs Moore was the Dominion secretary of the Girls’ Auxiliary. Part of her work as an elder will be to present a lay woman’s viewpoint to the Presbytery.
