No Trace Found Of Ship's Cook
No trace has been found of Patrick Ryan, a married man. aged about 45. second cook on the Union Steam Ship Company's Kuratai, who disappeared at Lyttelton 23 days ago. Mr Ryan failed to report for duty on the morning of July 10. and it was found that his cabin had not been slept in. There was a very heavy frost that morning, and it is thought that Mr Ryan may have slipped into the harbour on his way to the ship, which was berthed at the end of the Gladstone pier.
