Note For Auction A note in the handwriting of Sir Walter Scott will be among the items offered at one of the largest book sales ever conducted in Wellington by J. H. Bethune and Company at the end of August. Altogether, there will be more than 1800 items. Addressed to one David Thompson, the note is undated, though inscribed “Abbotsford. Monday.” Abbotsford was the home of the famous poet and novelist. It introduced “a border poet of some worth whom Dame Fortune is not disposed to be very kind to.” But the name of the poet is not mentioned. Driving Licences Valid driving licences or permits issued by competent authorities in the United Kingdom will now be recognised in New Zealand.
