Visitor From Australia

(From Our Own Reporter) HASTINGS, July 27. An interested spectator at the New Zealand ploughing championships at Hastings on Saturday was Miss Elaine Eudey, coordinating secretary for the Australian National Ploughing Association. Miss Eudey, who is a herd tester by occupation, is on a working holiday in New Zealand and she has been instructed by her -association to see as much of ploughing as possible. She said that judging by what she had seen the standard of ploughing in this country was about on an equal basis with that in Australia. Last month Australia had again selected Mr Bill Fraser as its representative for the world match in Northern Ireland in October, she said. He ploughed for Australia last year. Miss Eudey was vice-president of the Victorian Young Farmers’ Club which inaugurated ploughing contests in Australia, and at present Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania are participating in them.
