Severe Droughts In China

A force of about five million Chinese has been mobilised to fight a serious drought threatening cotton and rice crops on more than 4000 square miles f farmland in Hupeh Province, Central China.
The province has been almost without rain since early this months, and crops have begun to wither. The Peking newspaper “People's Daily” said the giant work force was digging wells and pumping water to parched fields.
