LIONS’ NEXT MATCH
Young To Play At Greymouth (New Zeaiana Press Association) GREYMOUTH. July 20, J. R. C. Young, who has run 100 yards in 9.6 sec, will play in his first match for the Lions in New Zealand at Greymouth on Wednesday. Young, Who was selected as a member of the English team for the Melbourrie Olympic Games three years ago out had to withdraw before the Games, has been on the bank since June 9. when he damaged a hamstring muscle while ■ playing against the New South Wales Counter side. Another member of that team, W. A Mulcahy, Who damaged a nerve in the upper arm, will also make his New Zealand debut against the West Coast-Buller team. He will lock the scrum with R. W. D. Marques. Mulcahy's continued absence .hrough .injury has weakened the tounng team considerably, as in Australia hep roved to be one of the most vigorous forwards in it. Mulcafiy played, in the first test at Brisbane and probably would also nave played ih the second one had he been available.
The only players not-available for selection for Wednesday's match are J. Butterfield and T. R. Prosser—apart from the two who are to return nome next week, M. A. F. English and N H. Brophy. Butterfield is still troubled by a muscular complaint, and Prosser’s ear infection could keep him out of the game for somp time. To accommodate Young on the right wing, the test right wing, P. B Juckson, has been, moved to the ieft, giving A, J. F. OReillv a well-deserved rest; he has played in six of the eight hiatches in New Zealand. Piobably the fastest wing playing in Rugby in the world. Young has much of the tricky running that has made Jackson such a force on the tour, and provided his injury is completely cured, he could force his way into a test team. M C. Thomas, on his second tour of New Zealand, has been appointed captain for the day. The team Is:—
T. E. Davies; P. B. Jackson, W. M. Patterson, M. C. Thomas. J. R. c. Young; G. H. Waddell; A. A. Mulligan: A. Ashcroft; H. J. Morgan. W. A. Mulcahy, R. W. D. Marques. G. K. Smith; B. G. M. Wood, B. V. Meredith. S. Millar.
