Ventilation For Heaters

The necessity of adequate ventilation when kerosene heaters are used is emphasised by a recent accident in Britain described in a recent issue of the Health Department’s quarterly bulletin “Heal tty" Two children were found unconscious in a bedroom in which a kerosene heater had been left burning all night with both the door and window closed. The children recovered consciousness when the door and window were opened but if it had continued longer the story might have been different.

The danger is not from fumes but from lack of oxygen as these heaters burn oxygen more quickly than most people realise.
