Boxing McNALLY BEATS LECKIE
Titleholder To Retire (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN. July 19. Joe McNally, of Dunedin, gained a points decision when he defended his New Zealand light-weight boxing title against Billy Leckie, also of Dunedin, in the Dunedin Town Hali on Saturday night. Leckie fought well but superior ringcraft, deft footwork and use of a strong left hand, gave the decision to McNally. McNally satd after the bout that he had retired. He received four cuts to his already damaged eyebrows. Before the bout on Saturday it was announced that the winner would be matched with Wellington’s Jimmy Cassidy on Monday, July 27. McNally is now unavailable and there is some doubt whether Leckie will accept the fight. McNally weighed in at 9st BJlb and Leckie at 9st sJlb. \
