M.E.D. CHARGES TO COMPANY
Effect of One-Rate Charge Because Death and Company, Ltd., was being charged for all lighting and industrial power at lighting rates it was paying £lOOO a year in excess of the amount it would be called upon to pay if the company’s circuit was separately metered, Mr B. F. Anderson told the Commission of Inquiry into the Distribution of Electricity yesterday, on behalf of the company. “The company now askg that a special rate be reinstated for multiple users of lighting and industrial power who do not have separately metered lighting and power circuits,” said Mr Anderson. Since his submissions were prepared the M.E.D. had reduced the bulk rate and that had meant a 20? per cent reduction for last year’s power, Mr Anderscr replied to a question by Mr J. G. Leggat, counsel for the M.E.D. It meant that instead of paying £5892 for last year’s power the company would now pay £4669, a reduction of £1223. The company felt, however, that there should be a still further reduction of ~14 per cent., which would amount to £796, Mr Anderson said.
