Rangiora Method Of Charging
After hearing submissions from Mr R. I. Farrant on behalf cf the Rangiora Businessmen’s Association about the “excessive tariffs” brought about by the Rangiora Borough Council’s use of maximum demand indicators, the Commission of Inquiry into the Distribution of Electricity was told by the council’s electrical engineer (Mr N. J. Hartley) that it was probable the council would discontinue the use of those indi i cators.
Mr Hartley said members of the council had discussed the situation and it was likely that a decision to cease using maximum demand indicators would be made at the next meeting of the council’s electricity committee. The association complained in its submissions that commercial electricity tariffs charged by the council were unjustified and that tariffs charged by neighbouring authorities were more moderate.
