FAMOUS BLUES SINGER
Billie Holliday Dead At 46 (Rec. 11 p.m.) NEW YORK, July 17. Billie Holliday, the famous negro blues singer, died at New York’s Metropolitan Hospital. The 46-year-old blues singer, wasted by narcotics and liquor in recent years, was taken to hospital unconscious on May 31 after she collapsed in her apartment She was under an oxygen tent for a time, and was listed as being in a critical condition. Miss Holliday was reported to have improved recently, but last night took a sudden turn for the worse.
