FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT
Situation.—A depression is centred north of New Zealand, and a ridge of high pressure extends across central districts. Forecast:— West Coast.—Light to moderate easterly to northerly winds predominating; a few showers in the far south, otherwise fair, with cool to moderate day temperatures. Outlook: little change. Canterbury.—Moderate north-east winds near the coast, elsewhere light variable winds; weather fair to fine, with moderate afternoon temperatures; frosts at night. Outlook: similar conditions. Marlborough and Nelson.—Light, variable winds, weather fine and frosty, with moderate day temperatures. Outlook: fair.
CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
After a frost of 10.9 degrees the weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine. The maximum temperature was 47.9 degrees, and there was a moderate north-east wind. Observations taken at the Meteorological Office, Harewood, yesterday :
