Women's Golf Team

A warm tribute to the New Zealand women’s golf team which competed in the recent Commonwealth tournament was paid by Miss Enid Wilson, a top player some years ago and now a noted writer on the game, in a letter to Miss H. Buchanan of Little River. “Everybody here is charmed and delighted with your girls,” Miss Wilson said. “It was entirely lack of tough tournament experience that put them last in the Commonwealth tournament. They played throughout their four matches with hearts of lionesses, and their gameness was a delight. Nicki Campbell impressed everyone with her fine personality and her wonderful golfing poteritialities. If only she could have a year of intensive competition here or in the United States she would be in world class. Your others are good sound players who would improve by being extended in more intensive competition.”
