Sustained Competition At Brisbane
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) BRISBANE, June 24. The official report of the Woolselling Brokers’ Association says that at today’s wocj. sales the offering of 19,622 bales was fully cleared. There was strong well sustained competition throughout from Japan, the Continent, Britain and Eastern Europe. Values for all descriptions showed a hardening tendency on yesterday’s rates particularly for finer quality types. The offering consisted of good to best top-making wools. The offering was drawn mainly from central, northern, south-west, and far-west parts of Queensland. Melbourne Sales Values at today’s Melbourne wool sales were fully firm on yesterday’s improved rates. Spirited bidding was led by Eastern Europe, the Continent. Japan, and the United Kingdom. The Woolbrokers’ Association reported a 98 per cent, clearance of the 14,030 bales offered. The offering consisted of a good select'on of Merino clips from Western Riverina with a limited quantity of crossbreds. Prices included: Good average 60’s, 72d per lb; good 58’s, 70d; good 56’s, 66d; good 50s, 62Jd.
