TINWALD SALE

There were only a few pens of wether iambs on offer at the Tinwald sale, and’ the demand was keener to the extent of 3s to 4s. No ewe lambs were yarded. In the twotooth section a pen of 130 Border Leicester-Romney cross ewes mated to fattening rams realised 50s 6d. The only other pen of two-tooth ewes were Romneys, and sold at 535. In the adult ewe section 230 goodmouth Cbrriedale ewes in lamb to fattening rams sold readily at 41s. Another pen of mixed-age ewes sold for 33s 6d

There was an improvement of 3s to 4s in store sheep, for which there seemed to be many buyers. - There was a short yarding of fat ewes and wethers, and prices appreciated for ewes, in some cases to the extent of 8s for good heavilywoolled sheep Wethers were firmer by 2s to 3s. Values were:— Two-tooth Wethers.—Prime, 52s to 57s Id; medium, 48s to 51s id; light, 42s Id to 47s Id. BURNSIDE (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, June 24. At the Burnside sale today the yarding of fat cattle was not large, there being only 279, but the quality was bettei than last week. The sale opened at values £1 to £2 above last week and increased to the extent of £3 to £4. There was an Increase in the numbers of medium-weight wethers and a slightly lai ger selection of ewes. The overall total of 2800 fat sheep was up some 300 t 0.400 on last week. Top quality young wethers held their value with the medium and lighter weights easing by 2s to 3s per head. Most classes of older wethers held their rates. This week’s values on the average would be 3s to 4s in advance ot last week.
