U.K. Trade Gap Smallest Ever
LONDON, June 23. A big increase in exports of machinery, cars, chemicals and textiles played a significant part in closing Britain’s trade gap to £1'500,000 in May, Board of Trade figures revealed today. The May trade gap—excess of imports over exports and reexports—was the smallest ever recorded. Exports reached the all-time record of £299,200.000—£3,500,000 more than in April.
U.S. Governors Visit Russia.— Nine United States State Governors have left New York for Moscow to begin a 24-day tour of the Soviet Union. In addition to a three-day visit to Moscow, the Governors will visit seven or eight capitals of Soviet Republics.—New York, June 23.
