Sydney Dockers Stop Work
(Rec. 9.40 p.m ) SYDNEY. June 24. Sydney’s 4000 dockers stopped work on all ships in the port this afternoon.
The stoppage was caused by a dispute over the unloading of ash from the freighter The dockers claimed that they and not outside employees should do the job.
Thirty-four ships, including 25 from overseas, are tied up by the dispute
Rain-makers Wanted.— Farmers in Denmark are demanding moves to produce artificial rain as a twomonth drought over most of northern Europe seriously threatens the year’s crops. Some Danish farmers say the dry sunny weather has already cost them 20 per cent, of their corn.—Copenhagen, June 23.
