OWNERSHIP OF BLUE
Blue, New Zealand’s leading three-year-old, has been bought outright by his Wellington part-owner, Mr J. Shelley. He will do little more racing in New Zealand. Blue is trained at present at Yaldhurst by A. Holmes, who held a half share in him. He will be transferred to J. D. Litten’s stable at West Melton, then will be sent to Australia in October. In Australia Blue will be trained by J. Watts, who drove him to victory in the New South Wales Pacing Derby. Watts will prepare Blue for the Inter-Dominion Championships at Sydney. If he does well Blue will be sent to the United States. Blue was sold for 4250gns to Mr Shelley at the 1957 yearling sales, but was raced in partnership by Mr Shelley and Holmes. Blue’s successes this season included the New Zealand Derby.
