PINE LOGS FOR JAPAN
Big Contract For Napier Firm
(New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, June 21. A contract for the supply of a minimum of 24,000.000 log feet of pinus radiata logs a year to Japan through the port of Napier has been successfully negotiated by Tuck Bros., Ltd., of Napier. The first shipment of 2.000,000 ft will leave Napier for Japan in about four weeks’ time. The logs will be cut from an area near Mount Tuhara at Taupo and will be trucked over the Taupo road to Napier, where they will be stored for shipment by vessels calling at regular monthly or bi-monthly intervals as shipping is available. A full cargo for the vessels which will take the logs to Japan is approximately 2,000,000 log feet.
