A Wellington barrister and solicitor. Mr P. H. Mitchell, has been elected Dominion vicepresident of the New Zealand Returned Services Association. There were three nominations for the office. Mr K. W. Fraser (Wellington) was re-elected unopposed as Dominion president. District vice-presidents elected were:—Northland, Mr L. F. Sloane; Auckland. Mr R. D. Cowie; Waikato-King CountryBay of Plenty, Mr G. Cower; Wellington-Rangitiki-West Coast, Mr G. Denbow; Wellington-East Coast, Mr T. O. S. Raleigh; Nel-son-Marlborough-Westland, Mr A. H. Eddie: Canterbury, Mr G. D. Hattaway: Otago-Southland, Mr R. R. H. Knowles.
The following were elected district representatives on the Dominion executive council: — Northland. Mr G. E. J. Adams: Auckland, Mr C. G. Peterwood: Waikato-King Country-Bay of Plenty, Mr J. C. White: Welling-ton-Rangitiki-West Coast, Mr L. King: Wellington-East Coast, Mr A. R. Robbins; Nelson-Marl-borough-Westland, Mr S.'T. Russell; Canterbury. Mr W. W. Brai.kenbridge; Otago-Southland. Mr T. A. Turner. Other council members are Messrs F. W. Coombs. W. J. R. Scollay, O. G. Smith, and C. C. N Johnston, and the member representing the Maori race is Mr W. Herewini.
A study of 138 expectant mothers revealed that poliomyelitis vaccination during pregnancy is important because it combats the "extraordinary susceptibility” of the mothers and it prolongs their infants’ passive immunity
