FUEL FAULT IN T.E.A.L. PLANE
Overnight Delay For Repairs
The Tasman Empire Airways plane from Australia to Christchurch yesterday did not make the return flight because of a fault in its fuel system. Passengers due to fly to Melbourne last night were accommodated in Christchurch. The aircraft is due] to leave at 9 a.m. today. 1 re flight was delayed at Syd!ney when it was discovered that a petrol tank was leaking. There was sufficient fuel reserves for the flight without using the tank, so if was drained. When the aircraft reached Christchurch from Sydney at 4 10 i p.m., it was 40 minutes late. l. e- | cause of the fault. Repairs were ! being done at the Christchurch airport last night to get the airI craft ready tor the return flight i this morning.
The delay will also affect tomorrow's services, and the flight from Melbourne, due at 5.45 p.m.. is now expected at 10.30 p.m The departure for Sydney, originally to be at 7.45 p.m., will now be at midnight.
