FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An intense anti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea and New Zealand.

Forecast:— West Coast.—Light or moderate winds, easterlies predominating; some cloudy areas at first this morning, but cloud breaking and weather becoming generally fair by the afternoon; moderate to mild temperatures. Outlook: mainly fair.

Nelson, Marlborough and Canterbury.—Light variable winds: a few patches of early morning fog, soon clearingfine and clear, with mild afternoon temperatures. Outlookfair.
