LITTLE ROCK SCHOOLS
Integration Upheld
LITTLE ROCK, June 18
A three-Judge Federal Court struck down Governor Orval Faubus’ school-closing law to. day and may have cleared the way for reopening Little Rock’s public high schools later this year. The Court reminded the Little Rock School Board that it was under a “continuing mandate” to carry out a previouslyapproved plan of integration for schools. Governor Faubus overrode a former school board and closed the four high schools last September to block the integration plan.
